Home Research Office of Research Office of Research: Faculty Research Retreat Educate, Innovate, Collaborate UC Irvine School of Medicine hosts annual Faculty Research Retreats to bring together faculty from School of Medicine departments, and often from the UC Irvine School of Biological Sciences, to explore research initiatives and new opportunities for collaboration at the intersections of basic, clinical and translational research. 2026 Faculty Research Retreat The UC Irvine School of Medicine hosted the 2026 Faculty Research Retreat on Thursday, March 5, 2026. Themed “The Next Chapter: Future Directions for Biomedical Research,” the all-day event brought faculty together to share research, collaborate and discuss future initiatives. Retreat Recap and Photos Retreat Program Past Retreats 2025 The 2025 Faculty Research Retreat was held on February 13, 2025, in partnership with the Charlie Dunlop School of Biological Sciences. Themed "Bringing Biology to the Patient," the retreat brought together faculty from both schools to promote research excellence and collaboration in the biological sciences and medical fields. Themed "Advancing the Frontiers," the first-ever joint event brought together faculty from both schools to explore grant submissions, further educational opportunities and promote research collaboration in the engineering and medical science fields. Attendees engaged in a variety of activities that underscored the transformative power of an engineering-medical sciences partnership to tackle the most pressing healthcare challenges of today. Read MORE 2023 The UC Irvine School of Medicine 2023 Faculty Research Retreat was held on February 10, 2023. The all-day event featured keynote speakers from leaders across the School of Medicine, discussions on research initiatives and current research awards, and speaker panels on topics such as research challenges, opportunities and resources and future collaborations with Children's Health of Orange County, the Long Beach VA Medical Center and UC Irvine's diverse research centers.
