Message from the Associate Dean LCME Accreditation & Timeline UC Irvine School of Medicine is accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME). The LCME is recognized by the United States Department of Education as the accrediting body for medical education programs leading to the MD degree in the United States. UC Irvine School of Medicine was first accredited by the LCME in 1961 and received its most recent full eight-year reaccreditation in 2025. LCME accreditation is a peer-reviewed process conducted to determine whether a medical education program meets established standards. This quality assurance process is an opportunity for self-study, reflection and continuous program optimization. The school’s next LCME survey visit is scheduled for the 2032–33 academic year.
