UCI School of Medicine offers one of the top medical education programs in the United States. The institution was first accredited in 1961 and received its most recent full eight-year reaccreditation in 2017 by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), an accrediting body for medical education programs leading to the MD degree. LCME accreditation is a peer-reviewed study conducted to determine whether a medical education program meets established standards. This quality assurance process is an opportunity for self-study and reflection that can foster improvements to our programs and institution.
