From Idea to Impact

Discovery at the Intersection of Down Syndrome &
Alzheimer's Disease

UC Irvine PhD candidate Elizabeth Andrews and her faculty mentor, Elizabeth Head, PhD, have discovered that women with Down syndrome may experience faster progression of Alzheimer’s disease than men. These findings could help reshape the timing of clinical interventions and pave the way for developing more effective therapies for people with Down syndrome and the broader population.
