The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine is dedicated to the diagnosis and understanding of human diseases through biomedical research, teaching and clinical service. Using the latest technologies, our researchers and pathologists help advance medicine by finding better ways of diagnosing, managing and treating diseases.

Research Services

The department hosts the Experimental Tissue Resource (ETR) Shared Facility in collaboration with the NCI-designated Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. Services include:

  • Tissue and clinical data procurement and distribution
  • Tissue histology, immunohistochemistry and digital pathology services
  • Interpretive histopathology and mouse pathology services

Clinical Services

The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine offers clinical diagnostic, consultative and referral services to UCI patients, more than 30 hospitals in Orange County and over 30 other regional hospitals.
