As Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education at UCI School of Medicine, I am delighted to extend a warm welcome. Our institution is not just a place of academic excellence and high-quality patient care; it is a community dedicated to shaping the future of healthcare through outstanding training and support. We take pride in fostering a diverse and inclusive community, and we are thrilled to consider you as a prospective member of the UCI family.

UCI Office of Graduate Medical Education (GME) oversees over 70 ACGME-accredited and 50 non-ACGME-accredited programs and supports more than 750 residents and fellows. Our commitment to excellence in medical education is at the heart of everything we do.

We understand that choosing the right institution and program for your medical training is a significant decision, and we want to assure you that our dedicated team works closely with program directors, coordinators, as well as institutional leaders and our trainees, to ensure a supportive learning environment conducive to fulfilling your personal and professional goals. Our administrative oversight extends to affiliated clinical sites and we are here to support you in becoming a highly skilled and compassionate healthcare leader.

Our state-of-the-art facilities at UCI Medical Center (Orange campus) reflect that commitment. As the region's only level I trauma center and level II pediatric trauma center, high-risk perinatal/neonatal program and maternal-fetal transport system, comprehensive stroke center, and home to the National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center – one of only 56 comprehensive cancer centers in the country – we provide an unparalleled environment for your medical education journey. We also look forward to the opening our Irvine medical campus to further serve our diverse patient population and to develop new educational experiences for residents and fellows.

I encourage you to explore the details of our training programs, the resources we offer and the vibrant community that defines us at UCI. I hope you find the information you need to make an informed decision about your medical training.

Thank you for considering UCI’s GME programs. We look forward to the possibility of welcoming you to our community.

Warm regards,

Kyle Ahn, MD, MBA
