Summer Online Research Program The Online Research Program at UCI School of Medicine is a three-week mentoring program designed to increase the exposure of high school students to research methods. This program is offered through our Office of Research. Open to high school students aged 15-19, this immersive experience offers a unique opportunity to explore medicine in a structured and engaging environment. Program Highlights: Introduction to Medical Careers: Gain insights into various healthcare professions and what a career in medicine entails. Interactive Learning: Participate in hands-on activities and workshops to better understand medical concepts and practices. Eligibility: Open to high school students aged 15-19. Summer Surgery Details UCI Cancer Research Institute Youth Science Fellowship Program The UCI Cancer Research Institute sponsors a summer program in cancer research for high school students. The goal is to build the pipeline for the next generation of cancer researchers. Open Medical School Open Medical School (OMS) is an annual event hosted by UC PRIME Pre-Health Pathways (UC3P) in collaboration with the UCI School of Medicine. High school students from underrepresented backgrounds come to campus for a full day of hands-on medical experiences (e.g., suturing and ultrasound), and physician and student panels and mentorship. This immersive program provides participants with the knowledge, skills and experience to advance social justice and health equity in medicine. Pathway to PRIME Programs: PRIME Academy is a stepping stone to UC Irvine School of Medicine’s PRIME programs, which emphasize leadership, advocacy and service. UCI School of Medicine PRIME Programs: PRIME-LC: Established in 2003, this five-year MD/Master’s program trains physicians to address the needs of California’s Latino communities. PRIME-LEAD ABC: The first national program specifically designed to develop physician-leaders for the unique health needs of African, Black and Caribbean communities. UC3P WEBSITE UC Irvine and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (UCI-HBCU) Summer Research and Clinical Program The UCI-HBCU Summer Research and Clinical Program at the UCI School of Medicine is an intensive eight-week initiative designed to prepare participants for medical school admissions and future careers in healthcare through hands-on focused training in clinical and research settings. Throughout the program, participants will gain practical experience, knowledge, and skills in conducting laboratory and clinical research, critical thinking, problem-solving, data analysis and ethical considerations specific to these environments.
