Home About Campus & Community Resources Surgery: Education & Training > Fellowship Programs > Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Fellowship Training Exemplary Clinical Leaders in Vascular Surgery The fellowship is a comprehensive, integrated program with excellent training opportunities in the full spectrum of vascular disease management, including aortic, peripheral, renal, visceral and cerebrovascular disorders. Fellows receive extensive training in complex minimally invasive endovascular and traditional open vascular surgical procedures. They are encouraged to conduct translational and patient outcomes-based research and become proficient in performing and interpreting non-invasive vascular laboratory studies. Funding support to attend national conferences and training programs is provided. Fellows' time will be equally split between the UCI Medical Center and the Long Beach Veterans Affairs Healthcare System. Both sites boast state-of-the-art hybrid operation suites with a dedicated vascular team, OR vascular nurse, radiology tech and scrub tech. UCI Medical Center UCI Medical Center is the only university hospital in Orange County that offers acute and general care service. It is the county's only Level I trauma center, American College of Surgeons-verified regional burn center and National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center. The facility was named one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals by Solucient, a leading source of healthcare business intelligence, and is one of three California hospitals and 15 major teaching hospitals to receive this award. VA Long Beach Healthcare System The VA Long Beach Healthcare System is one of the most diversified tertiary healthcare providers in the Department of Veterans Affairs. The comprehensive tertiary care center has 237 beds, the spinal cord unit has 90 beds and the geriatric and nursing home has 99 beds. The VA Long Beach Healthcare System has a preservation amputation care treatment program and a hybrid operating room. How to Apply Fellowship applications are accepted solely through ERAS, and matches are determined via the NRMP process. Applicants from international medical schools must have a valid California Postgraduate Training Authorization Letter (PTAL) and be ECFMG-certified at the time of application. Rotation block = One month. Inclusive leave time for vacation, conference and interviews must not exceed more than four weeks each post graduate year. Vacation = Maximum of 28 days permitted per post graduate year.
