About Us As revered educators, surgical oncology faculty members are committed to being role models and mentors and have won several awards for educational excellence and leadership. We aim to produce highly skilled, compassionate surgeons and future leaders in academic medicine. We provide comprehensive, compassionate, multidisciplinary care for patients with malignant and premalignant conditions through high-level collaboration. Our faculty are national and institutional surgical leaders who are highly respected for their clinical expertise and research contributions. We are fellowship-trained specialists in the areas of surgical oncology, breast surgery and endocrine surgery. Our faculty are members of national research organizations and strategically develop innovative research in their respective fields. We also initiate clinical trials based on the needs of the diverse population in Southern California. One of our important contributions to the field of medicine is to educate the next generation of doctors. Education & Training The UCI-John Wayne Foundation Complex General Surgical Oncology Fellowship program is a two-year ACGME-accredited program that provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary training in complex open and minimally invasive oncologic resections. Research Clinical Expertise The Division of Surgical Oncology provides an extensive array of surgical and nonsurgical treatments to manage a variety of cancer diagnoses, including gastrointestinal, skin and soft tissue, breast, adrenal and thyroid cancers, as well as metastatic disease. In addition, the division treats benign tumors.
