The Division of Gastrointestinal and Bariatric Surgery is committed to training the next generation of GI and bariatric surgeons with the aim of providing state-of-the-art clinical care to Orange County and beyond for years to come.
Our division is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of patients with disorders of the upper gastrointestinal tract as part of the Comprehensive Digestive Disease Center at UCI. Our expert surgeons are fellowship-trained in the surgical management of foregut disease. We provide an evidence-based approach to patient care using the latest in surgical techniques to provide minimally invasive options for the entire spectrum of benign and malignant diseases of the upper gastrointestinal tract.
In addition to diseases of the upper gastrointestinal tract, our surgeons are passionate providers of surgical interventions for obesity and metabolic disease. UCI is recognized as a Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery, and the Division of Gastrointestinal and Bariatric Surgery is a proud participant in the university’s comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to weight loss and improving the health of our patients. The division was granted Blue Distinction for Bariatric Surgery, reflecting our commitment to care of patients with obesity and metabolic diseases.
UCI School of Medicine offers a one-year Gastrointestinal Surgery Fellowship program. The fellowship provides training in minimally invasive/bariatric surgery, with exposure to diverse pathologies.
