UCI Medical Center

Our residency program is based at the UCI Medical Center campus. UCI Medical Center is the only university hospital in Orange County that offers acute and general care service. It has the county’s only Level I trauma center, American College of Surgeons-verified regional burn center and National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center. Included in its University Children’s Hospital is the county’s most sophisticated neonatal unit, caring for more than 500 premature and at-risk infants each year.

Core psychiatry rotations are located at UCI Medical Center’s Neuropsychiatric Center. First- and second-year residents will have duties on acute adult inpatient units, the child and adolescent inpatient unit, emergency psychiatry, and consult and liaison service. Non-psychiatry rotations including inpatient and outpatient medicine are also located at UCI Medical Center. Third- and fourth-year residents will have duties in multiple specialty clinics and the opportunity to get involved with myriad electives.

Our residency program also includes three inpatient units, a partial hospitalization program, two expanding and specialized outpatient clinics and a new sleep center, among other sites.
