These clinical sites are highly regarded among our residents, fellows and medical students. Our training program, including weekly didactics, emphasizes the importance of using a biopsychosocial and individualized approach to patient care. Multiple full-time faculty members are dually trained in psychiatry and either family medicine or internal medicine, all with national expertise in integrated psychiatric care and education. Strong educational partnerships with Orange County Mental Health Clinics and other mental health facilities within the Orange County community. A long tradition of UCI resident and faculty involvement in local and national leadership within organized medical associations (e.g., Orange County Psychiatric Society and the American Psychiatric Association). Many opportunities to publish and present at national conferences with UCI faculty. Over 10% of the UCI School of Medicine graduating class of 2023 chose psychiatry as their specialty of choice, which is well above the national average. Over the past several years, UCI graduates have maintained a 90% psychiatry board pass rate.
