We're here to help
Our goal is to not only help you find the assistance you need to meet the costs of your education, but to also help you learn how to manage your finances and educational debt. Also, as part of our mission, we provide a series of educational workshops on debt management and financial literacy to assist you with the transition both to and from medical school.
If you are considering receiving financial aid to cover part or all of your educational expenses, please do not hesitate to email us or call us at 949-824-6476. Should you prefer to see us in person, our office is located in the Medical Education Bldg. 836, 4th floor.

Application instructions
See button below for detailed instructions on how to complete a financial aid application.
If you would like to request an estimate of your financial aid, please complete the following:
- Submit a FAFSA/Renewal FAFSA at Federal Student Aid (School Code 001314):
- Include your and your spouse’s (if married) income and asset information.
- IRS Data Retrieval from FAFSA or an IRS Tax Return Transcript for you and your spouse (if married)
- Submit the UCI Financial Aid Form — available at the end of February in the ZotAid Portal. Include income and asset information for your parents if you would like to be considered for scholarships/grants. We will also be asking for Tax Return documentation for your parents.
Once we have received all the required documents, we will be able to provide you with an estimate for your first year of medical school.
In addition to the steps above, incoming students must submit an Identity and SSN Verification Form.
Please go to www.ofas.uci.edu/som and log on to My Aid to check:
- Status of your financial aid application: “My Aid Application Status”
- Your financial aid package: “My Aid Award”
- Documents you need to complete to get your loans ready for disbursement: “My To Do List”
Scholarship Opportunities
Scholarships are awarded to students who have shown a high level of academic performance and do not have to be repaid. Scholarships for students are awarded based on information provided on the admission application, academic record, FAFSA information and available funds. We offer scholarships that are based on merit criteria and/or financial need.
Additional FAFSA details
The UCI school code is 001314. The FAFSA constitutes the basic financial aid application and is required if you wish to be considered for need based university financial aid and scholarships. To be considered on-time, the FAFSA must be submitted with parental information by the March 2 deadline (or the next business day if March 2 falls on a weekend).
In addition, you may be required to submit other supporting documents. The supporting documents vary according to your particular situation. These must be submitted by the deadlines specified.
The School of Medicine Financial Aid Office has created this section of its website to post outside scholarship announcements for medical students. Our goal is to build a comprehensive list of non-UCI scholarship sources for you. We are making every effort to keep this section current and appreciate your help. If you find a new source of scholarship money for medical students, please let us know. Also, if you find that there is a change of address, or if an agency or institution is no longer providing financial assistance, let us know so that we can keep an accurate and up-to-date resource for you. As always, your comments and suggestions are very much appreciated.
