Programs in Medical Education Leadership Education to Advance Diversity - African, Black and Caribbean (PRIME LEAD-ABC) is a UCI School of Medicine mission-based program that produces skilled physician leaders who address the diverse health needs of Black communities, eliminate health inequities, and amplify the voices of the underrepresented communities we serve.

PRIME LEAD-ABC is the first medical school program in the nation designed to specifically develop physician-leaders who will serve the unique health needs of ABC communities. The program was founded in 2019 by Dr. Carol Major, Assistant Dean for Student Inclusive Excellence, Dr. Khanh-Van Le-Bucklin, Vice Dean for Medical Education, and Dr. Kaosoluchi Enendu, UCI School of Medicine graduate Class of 2021. Mission

To train and support students in medicine as they become medical professionals who will work to reduce healthcare disparities in ABC and other underserved communities.

"When I was choosing medical schools, I wanted to find a community that was like-minded and would support me and my goals. PRIME LEAD-ABC at UCI was the perfect program for me." -Hamzah Ahmed, MS3, UCI School of Medicine
