We focus on three main areas in which older adults are especially vulnerable. Preventing Elder Abuse and Neglect UCI School of Medicine is home to the Center of Excellence on Elder Abuse and Neglect and the Elder Abuse Forensic Center. Our ENDEAR program aims to disrupt the cycle of elder abuse. Preventing Elder Abuse in Orange County & Beyond Disaster Planning Older adults are often disproportionately affected by large disaster events. Our CareDEX grant intends to facilitate communication between first responders, caregivers and older adults. Disaster resilience and planning efforts Age-Friendly and Dementia-Friendly Orange County In partnership with Alzheimer’s Orange County and a multidisciplinary task force, we aim to build a community that supports people living with dementia, their families and their caregivers.
