PHMD220: Medical Physiology and Anatomy Correlates This course is offered for the 1st year Pharmacy students. The aim of this course is for students to acquire a thorough knowledge base and appreciation of the structure, function, and control of organs and organ systems in humans, which will serve as the foundation for a high-level understanding of the physiologic and anatomic basis of pharmacy practice. The essential concepts of physiology and mechanisms of body function are presented at various levels of organization, ranging from general cellular and molecular to system levels. Course Director: Philip Kiser, PhD, Associate Professor, Dept. of Physiology & Biophysics PHMD205A: Molecular Basis of Health & Disease - Immunology This course is offered to the 2nd year Pharmacy students. The immunology course is designed to understand the genetic, molecular and cellular basis of inflammation and pathogen clearance; the balance between pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory immune responses, with particular focus on immune checkpoints and tolerance; the diversity of secreted immune molecules and therapeutics manipulation used in the treatment of hypersensitivity, autoimmunity and cancer. Course Director: Harinder Singh, PhD, Assistant Adjunct Professor, Dept. of Physiology & Biophysics
