UCI Family Health Center — Santa Ana UCI Family Health Center (FHC) in Santa Ana is the primary practice center for our residency program. About 75% of our patients are Hispanic or Latino and about 75% of our patients have Medicaid. This diverse patient population provides our residents with a challenging mix of medical, social and economic problems. Weekly conferences are an important part of the curriculum and are held at the Family Health Center and other sites. UCI Douglas Hospital The Department of Family Medicine maintains its own inpatient service at UCI Douglas Hospital. This service, staffed by family medicine residents and physicians, handles medicine, obstetrics and pediatrics admissions. In addition to this service, residents rotate through inpatient medicine service as interns and through outpatient specialty clinics as senior residents. VA Long Beach (VALB) Medical Center Our residents currently complete rotations in internal medicine, the intensive care unit, specialty outpatient clinics and dermatology at the VA hospital. The VA Long Beach Medical Center is an important resource within our training program. Long Beach Memorial Hospital Long Beach Memorial Hospital, a private community hospital, has an emergency room that serves as a local trauma center. Family medicine residents complete emergency medicine rotations at Long Beach Memorial Hospital under the supervision of the hospital's staff physicians. Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) Our residents gain experience in the emergency room and inpatient service rotating alongside pediatric residents at CHOC's two state-of-the-art hospitals.
