We are proud to continue our 50-year history of producing outstanding faculty, leaders and practitioners who care for patients, families and communities in California and beyond. MD Student Electives The Department of Family Medicine offers several electives covering a range of subjects, including family medicine, geriatrics, sports medicine, integrative medicine and gender diversity. Electives may be two- or four-week rotations and are open to UCI and visiting medical students. Please note that these rotations are not available to international students. MD Electives Residency The three-year residency is a hybrid program that combines both community and academic education in a range of clinical settings from hospitals to family practices and outreach clinics, treating diverse populations, including the underserved and disadvantaged. Residency Program Fellowships The Department of Family Medicine offers ACGME-accredited fellowship programs in sports medicine and geriatric medicine.
