Our highly trained surgeons provide advanced, minimally invasive endovascular procedures, open surgical treatments and medical management of vascular conditions. Aortic Aneurysm Our team provides both monitoring and treatment of aortic aneurysms. We use ultrasound and advanced imaging techniques to track aneurysm growth. Our division’s surgeons use the latest minimally invasive technologies for aneurysm treatment (endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair), as well as open techniques (aortic grafting). For patients with acute aortic pathology such as ruptured aneurysms, aortic dissections and aortic transactions, we have developed a highly successful program, UCI FA2ST (Facilitated Acute Aortic Syndrome Treatment) to ensure expeditious treatment. Carotid Artery Disease Our surgeons offer medical and surgical management options to reduce the risk of stroke secondary to carotid artery disease. We are experienced in multiple treatment methods, such as carotid stenting, transcarotid artery revascularization and carotid endarterectomy. Other Arterial Diseases The Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery also manages other arterial conditions, including renal and mesenteric arterial occlusive disease and peripheral arterial disease. In peripheral artery disease, we use both minimally invasive procedures (stenting and angioplasty) and open surgical procedures (bypass surgery) to successfully salvage limbs and improve or maintain patients’ mobility. Venous Disease Faculty members in the UCI School of Medicine Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery manage a variety of venous conditions, including chronic venous insufficiency, deep vein thrombosis, pelvic vein disease and varicose veins. Depending on the condition, we employ minimally invasive techniques such as laser therapy, radioablation, sclerotherapy and stent placement. Other Conditions Other conditions that our division’s surgeons manage include vascular thoracic outlet syndrome and renal failure (construction and management of dialysis access via peritoneal or vascular routes).
