Promoting Excellence in Geriatric Medicine

The mission of the Student Geriatrics Interest Group (GIG) is to promote geriatric medicine and the care of older adults. UCI’s GIG fosters the involvement of students and professionals from various disciplines concerned with the care of the geriatric community, with the purpose of enhancing the multiple dimensions of geriatrics care.

Membership and participation is open to all UCI health professions students who are interested in geriatric medicine. GIG members also have the opportunity to join the American Geriatrics Society (AGS), which provides additional resources, networking opportunities, informative meetings and conferences to attend. The primary focus of the GIG activities is to meet the needs of the geriatric community through education, community outreach and volunteer opportunities.
