UCI researchers to join national effort to build atlas of human breast cells

University of California, Irvine researchers will help lead an unprecedented national effort to document the intricate cell types and states in breast tissue that underlie cancer. Compilation of the Human Breast Cell Atlas will be supported by a $4 million Seed Network grant from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.

Researchers discover new way to discriminate between mutations responsible for promoting cancer growth and those that are not

Until now, researchers believed recurrent mutations (hotspot mutations) in cancer tumors were the important mutations (driver mutations) that promoted cancer progression. A new University of California, Irvine-led study indicates this is not always true.
