Visionary Research


The UCI Division of Nephrology, Hypertension and Kidney Transplantation is widely recognized as a preeminent center of research and scholarship in the nation and abroad. In addition to our education of medical students, residents and fellows, the division provides continuing education for community physicians and the medical and nephrology community worldwide by participating in or organizing educational conferences and publishing original papers, editorials and review articles in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and clinical texts.

Educational Excellence


The division offers an ACGME-accredited fellowship program that includes clinical training at UC Irvine Medical Center, the VA Long Beach Healthcare System and community dialysis centers. These settings offer our trainees valuable experience in treating patients with a broad range of renal diseases.

including chronic renal disease and acute renal injury, polycystic kidney disease, kidney stones, glomerulonephritis, hypertension, hematuria and proteinuria, as well as fluid, electrolyte, and acid-based disorders.
