STAR Pathway The STAR (Service, Teaching, Advocacy and Research) pathway is ideal for those who want to take a deeper dive into studying population health via health equity outcomes, community health and engagement. This pathway allows selected residents to engage in impactful research concentrating on health inequities within the communities we serve. STAR resident scholars learn basic concepts in conducting a research project alongside a mentor and with grant funding made available. STAR Pathway Leadership Pathway This is a specialized leadership pathway for selected second- and third-year residents designed to foster ongoing skill acquisition in leadership for the academic medicine setting. The pathway provides interested senior residents who are looking to enhance their leadership skills in the fields of education, advocacy and healthcare administration with a range of educational and mentorship opportunities that foster ongoing professional identity formation. Residents who complete this pathway will graduate with a letter of distinction. Ambulatory Pathway The Primary Care pathway is a comprehensive, robust, longitudinal experience that provides residents with an opportunity to explore different practice settings in primary care, with increased clinical exposure to autonomy clinics, procedural training and mentorship by community pediatricians. This track offers a focused didactics curriculum with hands-on seminars and lectures devoted to topics relevant to the outpatient setting. Residents who complete this pathway will graduate with a letter of distinction.
