In our present moment, new histories are being written through the passionate and innovative care that our colleagues bring to work everyday. It is our honor and privilege to work alongside these women and countless others throughout our school – true champions of diversity, equity and inclusion who are leaving an indelible mark on the future of our campus and their respective fields of medicine.

Rakhi Dayal, MD, is an associate professor in the Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Care and the head of the department diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) committee. Her leadership has spawned significant accomplishments in the areas of education, professional development, policy creation, sustainability, and medical care.

In the clinical space, she has received praise from colleagues for advocating for patients’ needs in the Pain Management Clinic – a passion for just and equitable treatment that reflects her academic research into the developing science of cannabis and the combatting the opioid epidemic. As the program director of the department’s Pain Medicine Fellowship, she has taken an active role in mentoring future generations of anesthesiologists.
