Students take part in mass casuality drill Posted: 2024-02-18 Source: UCI School of Medicine News Type: Features & Briefs share On Friday, February 2, 2024, students at the UCI School of Medicine were part of a Mass Casualty Drill. The First Responder Elective led a simulated Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) Drill to practice skills learned as a part of the elective and gain perspective in the jobs that first responders are expected to do. With the support of the School of Medicine Simulation Staff, and undergraduate club Anteater EMS, students were able to experience a simulation of a shooting scenario. Through this activity, they gained invaluable insight on the complexity of addressing the challenges of these fast-moving situations. The goal of these training sessions is to give future physicians the scope, knowledge and experience required to understand what goes into addressing expanded incidents they may experience later in their career as physicians.
