Allen Chen, MD, awarded grant to promote equity, diversity and inclusion

Allen Chen, MD, professor and chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology, was awarded a grant from UCI Graduate Medical Education to develop an equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) curriculum in oncology. His proposal entitled “Inclusion Matters” is designed to enhance EDI awareness, to challenge others to think critically about this issue, and to have discussions on practical, real-world scenarios specific to cancer care. Topics will focus on such important issues as increasing representation of the underserved among providers, expanding access and improving sensitivity training.
