The UCI School of Medicine proudly announces the fifth annual Diversity in Graduate Medical Education Residency Open House. As an institution, our mission is to promote inclusive excellence by recruiting and supporting a wide array of physicians who can serve a diverse patient population and enable our local community to thrive.

This virtual event will provide a comprehensive look into our Graduate Medical Education experience through direct interactions with professionals throughout our campus community. The open house is specifically designed for medical students seeking to begin residency in June/July 2024. Medical students who come from or have experience serving medically underrepresented or disadvantaged populations are especially encouraged to apply.

FAQs

Who can attend?

This program is open to current medical students from LCME- and AOA-accredited institutions. More specifically, this event is designed for 3rd-year medical students who will be applying to residency programs for a June/July 2024 start date. Those who come from or have experience serving medically underrepresented or disadvantaged populations are especially encouraged to attend.

How do I register?

Please complete the RSVP form by May 10, 2023. As part of your registration process, you will be asked to submit the following:

  • Basic contact information, including a medical school-affiliated email address
  • Educational information: medical school and expected graduation date
  • Indicate potential residency specialties of interest (up to two programs in priority order)

What is expected from attendees?

It is our goal to provide attendees the time and space to interact with the various representatives of the UCI Medical Center community to accurately inform their questions and concerns about the UCI residency experience. Attendees will be expected to uphold standards of professional courtesy and interact with others using the appropriate channels provided by the event organizers.

It is our absolute hope that this experience will encourage attendees to apply for residency at the UCI School of Medicine. However, attendance at this event is for informational and educational purposes only. Attendance at the Residency Open House does not constitute any formal application for employment on behalf of the attendees, nor does it imply or guarantee any employment offers on behalf of the University of California, Irvine.

How much will this event cost?

The Virtual Residency Open House event is free.

I'm unsure of my schedule on May 13.

Only those students who RSVP by the May 10 deadline will be granted access to this event. If you are unsure of your schedule, we recommend that you bookmark this web page and complete the RSVP form when you are ready and before the deadline.

I have additional questions or concerns.
