UCI School of Medicine Inclusive Excellence Hiring Incentive Program

The UCI School of Medicine Inclusive Excellence Hiring Incentive Program provides funding support towards the recruitment of faculty with strong contributions to increasing diversity and inclusive excellence in medicine, research and education. Strengthening efforts towards the advancement of faculty diversity, the program offers flexibility for departments to choose incentive options that best fit each individual recruitment of faculty within Ladder Rank and Equivalent Rank positions.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Training

The UCI School of Medicine’s Office of Belonging, Equity and Empowerment strongly encourages our community to participate in education and training on topics of diversity, equity and inclusion to enhance their personal awareness, knowledge and skills to support DEI initiatives and better practices. A host of training resources exist to support individual and departmental needs, including the UC Managing Implicit Bias Training series.

Sustainable Advancement Initiatives for Leadership (SAIL) Academy

As part of UCI School of Medicine’s commitment to support the professional development, retention and advancement of diverse faculty, the Sustainable Advancement Initiatives for Leadership (SAIL) provides a six-month, in-person leadership training program for faculty designed to cultivate a professional network, foster engagement with UCI leaders and strengthen the skills and confidence of faculty as they develop strategic connections for career growth and advancement.

HS Clinical Faculty Mentoring Event Series

The UCI School of Medicine’s HS Clinical Faculty Mentoring Committee (HCMC) supports our next generation of clinical educators in bridging the connection between mentorship and support to enhance career growth opportunities and boost morale. The HCMC supports all Non-Senate HS Clinical Faculty through a series of events designed to foster mentorship, community and the exchange of diverse perspectives through interdisciplinary connections.

HS Clinical Mentoring Meetups

The UCI School of Medicine offers resources for both mentors and mentees, building relationships for junior faculty to make the most of the beginning years of their careers. The HS Clinical Mentoring Meetups were created to support faculty in building professional networks, gaining mentorship, promoting wellness and preventing burnout while creating opportunities to engage with other non-senate HS faculty outside of their home departments. Participants learn about resources at UCI for professional development and promotion while building community.

UCI Samueli Office of Wellbeing

The UCI Samueli Office of Wellbeing offers system-wide, evidence-informed programs to enhance the resilience and wellbeing of faculty and staff in UCI Health and the Susan & Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences. Programming includes Faculty Wellness & Peer Support Programs, Mental Health Check-ins, Mindfulness Resources and a quarterly Grand Rounds series highlighting the importance of trauma-informed principles to support growth and resiliency during critical incidents.
