Other research has focused on somatic hypermutation and class-switch recombination, which has been instrumental in defining the genetic basis of a number of primary immunodeficiency diseases, apoptosis or programmed cell death, and dendritic cell biology. Our division is also heavily involved in translational research in human aging and primary immunodeficiency diseases. Working with the university’s Institute for Immunology, our researchers aspire to stimulate new ideas, identify needed areas of inquiry and support collaborations that will integrate basic science with medical applications. This depth and breadth of expertise provides medical students and residents in pediatrics and general internal medicine with the unique opportunity to address important clinical and basic research questions.
