Our goal for the UC Irvine School of Medicine’s Internal Medicine Residency Program is to train the extraordinary internist.

We strive to provide our residents with the skills and knowledge necessary to pursue the career paths of their choice — from the generalist to the specialist, the basic researcher to the outstanding clinician.

By the end of training, our residents are clinically astute, academically exceptional, altruistic and committed to the highest professional standards.

In order for these attributes to flourish, our faculty mentors are dedicated to guiding and treating our residents-in-training with respect.

Our priority is the education of our residents. We regularly evaluate each training site and learning experience for their educational opportunities. Rotations that fall short are revised or removed.

Preparing for the Future

Residents need to be highly skilled to practice medicine in today’s rapidly evolving environment, prepared to provide patient-centered care, as well as to understand the business of medicine and the many modes of healthcare delivery.

The curriculum described on this website has at its core all that is essential to internal medicine. Our program is fluid and dynamic, in step with our residents and faculty. We are continuing to improve, evolve and rise to the next level.

We invite you to consider joining us on this exciting journey.
