The faculty in the Division of Nephrology are dedicated to the provision of comprehensive, holistic care of patients with pediatric kidney disease. Our division provides diagnostic and therapeutic services for all kidney conditions. Our interdisciplinary team includes physicians, an authorization team, a dietitian, a social worker, a case manager and administrative support staff.

Inpatient Care

Our faculty experts provide inpatient care, including acute dialysis, working together with our amazing acute dialysis nursing team and all of our subspecialty providers, hospitalists and intensive care teams. Common reasons for inpatient pediatric nephrology care include:

  • Acute dialysis
  • Acute kidney injury: oliguric and non-oliguric
  • Hypertension
  • Fluid overload/edema
  • Electrolyte abnormalities
  • Renal structural abnormalities
  • Metabolic abnormalities/urgencies
  • Glomerulonephritis: acute and chronic

Outpatient Care

We also provide outpatient care for a variety of conditions, including:

  • End-stage kidney disease needing chronic dialysis
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • Glomerulonephritis: acute and chronic
  • Nephrotic syndrome
  • Hypertension
  • Electrolyte abnormalities, including tubulopathies (Bartter, Gitelman, nephrogenic diabetes insipidus, cystinosis)
  • Congenital anomalies of the kidneys and genitourinary tract
  • Cystic kidney disease
  • Kidney stones
  • Genetic conditions associated with kidney involvement
