The non-ACGME-accredited fellowship in selective surgical pathology is a one-year fellowship that is designed to offer advanced, focused and intensive diagnostic training in all areas of surgical pathology.

  • Elective and research time can be used to pursue additional subspecialty training in other areas such as gynecology, gastrointestinal, soft tissue and bone, breast, etc., or to work on research projects.
  • Fellows participate in departmental and interdepartmental conferences, as well as medical student and resident teaching.

The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine accepts one to two selective surgical pathology fellows per year.

UCI establishes PGY levels for new fellows based on the successful completion of all prerequisite training required for entry into the fellowship program.
