News & Events: School of Medicine Strategic Plan

The current five-year School of Medicine Strategic Plan covers FY 2020-25 with several major initiatives underway to accomplish the key goals of innovative education, research distinction, clinical excellence and being a complex care leader. Progress towards these goals include:

  • Developing basic science-focused clinical experiences for students, leading to increased satisfaction on outcome measures
  • Creating an Office of Belonging, Equity and Empowerment (BEE) to advance diversity, equity and inclusion efforts across the School of Medicine
  • Increasing NIH grant submissions and clinical research funding
  • Improving physician STAR ratings
  • Promoting and expanding service lines related to primary and specialty care

The Strategic Planning Executive Committee meets each quarter to review progress on the strategic plan initiatives towards aspiration metrics. The plan as a whole is reviewed annually to ensure that it remains relevant to achieving the school’s mission, vision and aspirations. Visit the school’s website for information on the School of Medicine Strategic Plan.
