Our gastrointestinal pathology faculty members perform rapid and high-quality diagnostic histopathology on gastrointestinal endoscopic biopsies and resections of the gastrointestinal and pancreaticobiliary systems.

Our large-volume services help clinicians provide the most appropriate care for benign or malignant disease, congenital and inherited disorders, trauma and iatrogenic injury. Many specimens are derived from endoscopic biopsies performed by UCI gastroenterologists at the H.H. Chao Comprehensive Digestive Disease Center. These include major conditions such as Barrett’s esophagus, chronic gastritis, ulcers, celiac disease, polyps, inflammatory bowel disease, and benign and malignant tumors including lymphoma and carcinoma.
