UCI School of Medicine Recognizes Women's History Month: Rebecca Bennett, MD Posted: 2024-03-25 Source: UCI School of Medicine News Type: Features & Briefs share In the Department of Radiological Sciences, Rebecca Bennett, MD, HS assistant clinical professor, serves a parallel role as the chair of her department’s DEI committee, of which she has been a member since residency.Her dedication to the department has been characterized by a steadfast commitment to mentorship. “Throughout my training and years as junior faculty, I have benefitted tremendously from strong female mentorship,” states Dr. Bennett. “It is my hope that by staying in academics, I can serve as a role model for other women training in Interventional Radiology and help improve the gender disparity in this great procedural subspecialty.” Dr. Bennett acts as a role model and mentor to medical students through her work in the medical student ultrasound curriculum as well as the Radiology Diversity Summer Internship. With a clinical focus on Women's Health and improving access to minimally invasive procedures for female patients with symptomatic uterine fibroids or chronic noncyclical pelvic pain from ovarian vein insufficiency, her contributions to academic medicine include publications in The Journal of Vascular Surgery, The Annals of Colorectal Research, and poster presentations for the Society of Interventional Radiology.
