UCI School of Medicine Recognizes Women's History Month: Jessica Campos, MD

Jessica Campos, MD, PGY-5 in the Department of Neurological Surgery, has been praised by her colleagues and senior leadership for her significant contributions to research, patient care, mentorship and professional service.
She has been a part of several regional and national committees, serving in both appointed and elected positions. Amongst these roles, she currently serves as the Neurosurgery Resident Liaison of the Joint Cerebrovascular Section of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS).
Her application for election to this position included a platform entitled, “Leave No Neurosurgery Resident Behind,” which stated, in part, “My priority as liaison would be to ensure that every interested resident has access to the guidance and resources needed to navigate this specialized field with ease. I aim to abolish barriers, promote inclusivity, and foster a sense of community among aspiring cerebrovascular neurosurgeons, leaving no neurosurgery resident behind on their journey to excellence in this field.”
Dr. Campos has also held several additional leadership and mentorship roles within the CNS, AANS, and other professional associations dating back to her time as a medical student. Speaking on her commitment to her professional community, she says, “I aim to actively foster a supportive community for all women in healthcare. I hope that future generations of physicians and surgeons will join me in efforts to encourage and support all aspiring women on their journey to excellence in medicine.”
