First Orange County Comprehensive Stroke Center

UCI Medical Center was the first Orange County Comprehensive Stroke Center designated by The Joint Commission. It was also the first hospital in Orange County to be certified as a Primary Stroke Center and among the first in the nation to receive this recognition.

ALS Clinic Awards

The UCI Health ALS & Neuromuscular Center, one of the Muscular Dystrophy Association-designated ALS clinics in the United States, has been nationally recognized for its groundbreaking research and role in developing novel therapies to treat amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. This flagship program integrates comprehensive care with new clinical trials, including stem cell research. 

Our ALS Clinic is also recognized by the National ALS Association as an ALS Certified Center of Excellence.

Level IV Comprehensive Epilepsy Program

We are home to a National Association of Epilepsy Centers Level IV (highest designation) Comprehensive Epilepsy Program, with a strong, expanding program in surgical treatment of refractory epilepsy and a particular focus on epilepsy in women.

Recognized by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society

The expertise of our Division of Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology has been recognized by a National Multiple Sclerosis Society-designated Center of Excellence Award, with clinical care supported by innovative research programs.

Huntington's Disease Society of America-designated Center

Our Division of Movement Disorders is home to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America-designated Center of Excellence. 

Collaboration with Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center

Featuring the latest technologies, the department’s neuro-oncology services are provided in conjunction with the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, making it the only program in Orange County affiliated with a National Cancer Institute-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Cutting-edge Neurology Research

New and innovative programs combining personalized clinical care with leading research include traumatic brain injury, neurogenetics, neuroinformatics/predictive analytics and rare neurological disorders, including leukodystrophies and genetic ataxias.

Collaboration with Children's Hospital of Orange County

We combine expertise with Children’s Hospital of Orange County to provide services through the NIH-funded Undiagnosed Diseases Network (UDN), offering hope to those with unusual and rare neurological disorders.
