We offer both a two-week and four-week elective rotation, as well as a dermatopathology elective and a research elective. Students who are interested in our residency program are encouraged to seek out a mentor, let us know early of your interest, and develop some clinical or research interests related to dermatology. UCI Dermatology Visiting Student Scholarship The UCI Department of Dermatology is pleased to offer a Visiting Student Scholarship to a visiting student in need of financial assistance to attend our dermatology clerkship. We will offer $2,500 for travel- and/or housing-related costs associated with attending the clerkship. Through the application, students should demonstrate how their background and experience help to promote an environment of excellence. The deadline to apply is April 7, 2025. Scholarship Application Process Apply to the UCI Dermatology Elective 620B through the VSLO/VSAS website. Select up to 5 preferred dates when submitting your application. Provide a letter of recommendation (from a medical school faculty member in any medical specialty). Share your background and experience in response to the following question: How would your background and experience help to promote an environment of medical excellence? (Not to exceed 250 words.) Email your responses and attach your letter of recommendation to our residency coordinator, Terena Wells (terenaw@hs.uci.edu). Who Should Apply Rising 4th-year medical student in good standing at an LCME or COCA-accredited medical school. All eligible students are encouraged to apply. Dermatology Electives As a premier teaching department, we receive many applications from medical students to join our ranks. The coursework offered depends on program selection. View electives
