Message from the Chair

Welcome to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UC Irvine School of Medicine. As the only academic medical center serving the demographically diverse and culturally rich population of Orange County, we are dedicated to the tripartite mission of UC Irvine: Discover. Teach. Heal.

As champions for women’s health, our calling is to deliver clinically excellent, patient-centered, holistic and accessible obstetrical and gynecological care to the women of our community, advance the science of women’s health in a meaningful and applicable fashion, and train the future leaders in women’s healthcare.

Our department has a proud tradition of clinical excellence. It comprises nationally and internationally recognized leaders in maternal fetal medicine, gynecologic oncology, urogynecology, family planning, and general obstetrics and gynecology.

Our department is also one of the first in the nation to house a dedicated Division of Obstetric-Gynecologic Hospitalists. Although primarily based at the 400-bed, tertiary referral UCI Health Douglas Hospital in Orange, our faculty and staff serve a number of clinical practice locations throughout the region, including Long Beach, Newport Beach, Fountain Valley, Santa Ana, Anaheim and Laguna Hills.
