Thank you for your interest in the UC Irvine Anesthesiology Residency Program.

Our residency program offers residents a comprehensive, carefully designed learning experience composed of dedicated education days with targeted learning. Learning activities include workshops and simulation sessions, Point-of-Care Ultrasonography, problem-based learning and discussions, clinical case scenarios, journal club, individualized mock oral boards and written board exam practices.

Residents enjoy robust clinical experiences with clinical rotations at various healthcare systems with diverse patient populations. Our Global Outreach Initiative supports senior residents interested in volunteering in medically underserved parts of the world, providing anesthesia in countries or systems with limited resources.

Residents are strongly encouraged to participate in scholarly activities and serve in leadership roles within the institution and in specialty societies. With dedicated research faculty support and mentorship, residents have ample opportunity to submit abstracts and present case reports.
We provide financial support for travel to national and regional conferences to present research.

We take great pride in the accomplishments of our residents. Our graduates have successfully secured positions in competitive fellowships and have found highly sought-after career positions in both private practice and academic medicine. Over the past five years, about 50 percent of our graduates have chosen to pursue fellowship training.

Our residents and fellows have attained their professional goals through exceptional clinical experiences, strong faculty mentorship and comprehensive educational programs.  UC Irvine provides an exceptional educational environment for training. We invite you to explore our website to learn about what makes UC Irvine School of Medicine an excellent place to begin your residency training.

We look forward to meeting you!
