The Innovative Anesthesiology-Critical Care Education Program is an integrative approach to completing ABA certification in anesthesiology and critical care medicine. This five-year program approved by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) combines anesthesiology residency training with subspecialty training in anesthesiology critical care medicine, providing residents with early exposure to critical care environments, mentorship from experienced faculty, and opportunities to participate in core lectures, journal clubs, and morbidity and mortality conferences. Residents gain hands-on experience across multiple ICUs, preparing them for board certification and a career in anesthesiology critical care.

  • Satisfies the requirements for board certifications in anesthesiology and critical care medicine.
  • Integrates a one-year Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine Fellowship into the final two years of residency training.
  • Provides early exposure and involvement in anesthesiology critical care subspeciality, where the resident is included in critical care core lectures and didactics, journal club and morbidity and mortality conferences at the beginning of the PGY-2 year.
  • Residents in the program will receive support and mentorship from critical care faculty throughout the program.
