The anesthesiology critical care team uses a broad spectrum of clinical skills and a multidisciplinary approach to care for a diverse patient population.

Anesthetic Care for Complex Surgeries

Faculty and trainees in the Anesthesiology Critical Care specialty provide anesthetic care and management for patients undergoing complex surgical procedures. These include:

  • Ventricular assist device implantations
  • Transplants
  • Synthetic skin treatments
  • Neurosurgical procedures
  • Pulmonary procedures

Collaboration Across Intensive Care Units

The team often partners with intensivists, trauma and critical care surgeons, critical care nurses and nurse practitioners to support the delivery and management of anesthesia across various intensive care units.

Anesthesia Management for Cardiovascular Surgeries & Procedures

Additionally, our anesthesiology critical care team works closely with cardiothoracic surgeons and heart failure specialists to support anesthesia management for patients undergoing cardiovascular surgeries and procedures, such as ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) or LVAD (left ventricular assist device) implantations.
