Applicants with demonstrated service, leadership and commitment to addressing the health and social needs of LGBTQ+ communities will be most competitive for admission. Applicants should note: Students may have experience with health disparities, often at a personal level, but this is not required. Applicants do NOT need to be a member of the LGBTQ+ community to apply for the PRIDE Program. Please see the UC Irvine School of Medicine’s application timeline page for more information. Application Timeline How to Apply — Applications Open in May AMCAS opens in May. Secondary applications are sent beginning in July of the year prior to matriculation. To apply to the PRIDE Program, you must first apply to the UC Irvine School of Medicine MD program through the AMCAS application system. If you are invited to complete a secondary application, you will have the opportunity to indicate your interest in the PRIDE Program and respond to the program’s supplemental questions. These materials must be submitted within 30 days of receiving your secondary application invitation. Interview — August through April Interviews take place from August through April. Applicants must be selected for an interview with the School of Medicine before being selected for an interview with the PRIDE Program. Once invited, applicants will be interviewed by program faculty and existing students. Review Period & Acceptance — October through May Applications are reviewed from October through May. The School of Medicine Interview Committee and the PRIDE Program Interview Committee will evaluate applicants throughout the review process. Admission to the PRIDE Program is contingent upon acceptance to the UC Irvine School of Medicine MD program. Matriculation — July to August Summer Immersion & Orientation Meet fellow mission-based students and faculty, build relationships and prepare for the academic year ahead. Questions?
