The Anesthesiology Interest Group (AIG) at the UC Irvine School of Medicine is dedicated to introducing and educating medical students to the field of anesthesiology.  AIG offers a wide range of resources and activities to medical students who are considering anesthesiology as a career, including:

  • Lectures and panel discussions
  • Hands-on clinical skills workshops
  • Research opportunities and quality improvement project involvement
  • Annual conferences and networking events
  • Residency application guidance and support
  • Structured mentorship through the Medical Student Mentor Program

Medical Student Mentor Program

AIG facilitates the Medical Student Mentor Program, where students are paired with an anesthesiology faculty mentor for a more in-depth and personalized experience. Through this structured mentorship program, students can:

  • Shadow anesthesiologists and other healthcare professionals in a clinical setting
  • Explore various subspecialties
  • Participate in cutting-edge research and quality improvement projects

This program offers valuable guidance for students, helping them make informed decisions through real-world exposure and mentorship. Limited spots are available. Contact the AIG Co-Presidents to learn more.
