LCME 2025 Accreditation Survey Visit Communication
 

The Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) will be performing an on-site survey visit for our next reaccreditation cycle from January 26-29, 2025. The LCME is the national accrediting organization for U.S. medical schools. UCI School of Medicine received its most recent full eight-year reaccreditation in 2017.

Introducing the Accreditation Team

The Office of Education Compliance and Quality (ECQ) is charged to lead LCME accreditation activities along with Michael J. Stamos, MD, our dean and chief academic officer. The ECQ team includes:

• Julie Youm, PhD, Associate Dean & Faculty Accreditation Lead
• Zahra Dabzadeh, Project Manager & Data Analyst
• Sarah Reed, Executive Assistant

News & Events: The Self-Study

A critical step in the reaccreditation process is the institutional self-study. This self-study launched in February 2023 with a broad group of stakeholders, including an independent student task force. Findings and recommendations were presented in August 2023.

LCME Spotlight
Standard 1: Mission, Planning, Organization and Integrity

LCME Standard 1 focuses on strategic planning and continuous quality improvement. The most recent strategic plan launched in January 2021. Implementation spans from FY 2021–25 with great progress across the strategic initiatives as measured by the aspiration metrics reviewed quarterly. These initiatives include advancing diversity, equity and inclusion; innovating curricular integration; increasing the number of federal awards for SOM faculty; and improving new patient access to high level care.
