Joe C. Wen gift to support UC Irvine School of Medicine, UCI Health Posted: 2024-07-18 Source: UC Irvine School of Medicine News Type: Features & Briefs share We are pleased to announce that UC Irvine benefactor Joe C. Wen has provided a generous $7.5 million endowment to support the continued growth and excellence of our cardiovascular program. The Division of Cardiology will now be known as the Mary & Steve Wen Cardiovascular Division, in honor of Mr. Wen's parents, and the UCI Health Cardiovascular Clinic in Pavilion 4 at UCI Medical Center will be renamed Tsai Ya Au Heart & Vascular Pavilion, in honor of his grandfather. In addition, Mr. Wen has made a transformational $42.5 million gift to name the new Joe C. Wen School of Public Health, which has received approval from the UC Board of Regents. We congratulate Founding Dean Bernadette Boden-Albala and the entire public health team on this momentous accomplishment. In 2022, his gift of $20 million named the Joe C. Wen & Family Center for Advanced Care at the UCI Health – Irvine medical campus. This five-story, 168,000-square-foot state-of-the art outpatient facility began serving patients last month. This remains the largest gift to UCI Health by a donor under age 50. With his new gifts, Mr. Wen solidifies his place as one of our region’s leading philanthropists. In a year of tremendous growth and milestones for UC Irvine, we are grateful for his friendship in supporting the efforts of UCI Health and UC Irvine School of Medicine to improve the health of our community and advance the standards of care in cardiology. Please join us in thanking Joe C. Wen and his family for their generous vision. Sincerely, Michael J. Stamos, MD Dean UCI School of Medicine Chad T.
