Advancing ERAC: The Saddleback Experience

Objectives:

• Discuss ERAC (Early Recovery After Cesarean) and multimodal management for the post cesarean patient
• Explain the importance of reducing opioid use post operatively
• Explain the role of TAP blocks in the post C/S patient
• State the importance of a multimodal approach to post operative pain for the C/S patient, and the medications used to implement a multimodal approach
• Recognize the difference between immediate acting and long acting local anesthetics and how they can be used within an ERAC protocol
• Encourage the practitioners to evaluate their current post op pain management protocols for the cesarean patient and will consider applying new techniques if appropriate
