Sarah H. Arshad, MD, graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School. Then, she completed a 5-year Triple Board Program at UPMC (combined training in pediatrics, adult psychiatry, and child and adolescent psychiatry) and is now triple board certified. After training, Dr. Arshad joined the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (DCAPBS) at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). While she works clinically as an emergency room and consultant liaison physician at CHOP, she is also the Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. Moreover, she has been the Research Consultant for the Stanford Muslim Mental Health & Islamic Psychology Lab. Dr. Arshad has served as the co-leader of the Behavioral Health Education Committee, as well as the Chair (2019-2022) and active member of the Pediatric Education Project in Behavioral Health ‒ two committees dedicated to mental health education and training for primary care pediatric providers. She previously served as the Assistant Training Director of the Post Pediatric Portal Program at CHOP, a 3-year fellowship in adult and child psychiatry for pediatricians. She has been the Course Director of the program to develop a cultural psychiatry curriculum. In addition, Dr. Arshad has been serving on the Diversity & Inclusion Committee. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and the American Psychiatric Association.
