Applicants with demonstrated service, leadership, and commitment to addressing the health and social needs of LGBTQ+ communities will be most competitive for admission. Applicants should note: Students may have experience with health disparities, often at a personal level, but this is not required. Applicants do NOT need to be a member of the LGBTQ+ community to apply for LEAD-PRIDE. Please see the UC Irvine School of Medicine’s application timeline page for more information. Application Timeline How to Apply — AMCAS opens in May Secondaries are sent starting in July the year before you matriculate. To apply to the LEAD-PRIDE program, you must first apply to the UC Irvine School of Medicine MD program through the AMCAS application system. If invited to a secondary application, you will have the option to express your interest in LEAD-PRIDE and complete the program's supplementary questions within 30 days of your invitation. Interview — August through April Applicants must be selected for an interview with the School of Medicine before being selected for an interview with LEAD-PRIDE. Once invited, applicants will be interviewed by program faculty and existing students. Review Period & Acceptance — October through May The School of Medicine interview committee and the LEAD-PRIDE interview committee will review your application. Students must be accepted to the School of Medicine before being accepted to LEAD-PRIDE. Matriculation — July to August Summer Immersion & Orientation – Meet the other mission-based students and faculty, build relationships and prepare for the coming year. Questions?
