Faculty members provide the majority of training in the inpatient wards and provide consultation services, as well as in the perioperative and palliative care clinics. The Hospitalist Program, through its educational program, seeks to foster the highest possible commitment to individual patients and to the community. Center for Future Health Professionals UC Irvine's Center for Future Health Professionals was founded in 2007 by Dr. Behnoosh Afghani, a pediatric hospitalist, to inspire youth to seek healthcare careers and to provide guidance about how to prepare for attending a health professional school. The center provides Orange County youth with the opportunities and resources they need to succeed through after-school mentoring programs and workshops led by healthcare professionals. Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Fellows receive training in various clinical locations and attend daily interdisciplinary team meetings with the palliative medicine team, comprised of physicians, advanced practice nurses, social workers, a pharmacist and a chaplain.
