Kathleen Powers, PhD

Kathleen Powers is a medical student at UC Irvine School of Medicine. She graduated from the doctoral program in rhetoric at the University of California, Berkeley, and studies the organism in philosophy of science. She taught as a visiting professor of philosophy at Deep Springs College from 2023 to 2024 and is applying to general surgery this ERAS application cycle. She is delighted to serve on the board of Plexus. She conceives of her role as a steward: to maintain and support reflective practices of the UCI Health community — to distinguish between the meanings of attending the practice of medicine, to, in the words of Hannah Arendt in the Human Condition, “think what we are doing.
